Obituary of Alvin C. Uehlin

Alvin C. Uehlin, 83, died Tuesday (April 15, 2003) at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

He was born Aug. 18, 1919, in rural Oberlin, to Charles C. and Julia May (Tacha) Uehlin. He was raised on a farm northeast of Oberlin. He attended Vallonia Country School and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1937.

He served in the U.S. Army.

On June 1, 1948, he married Mary C. Fortin in Oberlin. They resided on a farm northeast of Oberlin in the Roosevelt Township before later moving to Oberlin. He was a farmer.

He was a member of the Prairie Chapel Church and the Oberlin American Legion Post No. 70.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Amy Schweitzberger, Charlotte Van Pelt and Leona Kolsky.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Uehlin of Oberlin; sons, Ron Uehlin and wife, Patti of Danbury and Dannye Uehlin of Oberlin; brother-in-law, Ira Kolsky of Stockton, Mo.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment with military rites will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. and Friday after 8 a.m. at the funeral home.
